A wide range of Assistive Technology (AT) presently available around the world comes with a universal 3.5mm miniplug (pictured at right) designed to accept On/Off signals from numerous sources. All three programs in the NeuroSwitch System come with onscreen indicators when the user has activated a nerve signal. NeuroSwitch AT - which is included in the NeuroSwitch System also has a switchable audible signal which Beeps when the user activates it with a nerve signal, if it is has been set to ON. This audible and visible feedback provides additional indicators to a user when they generate a nerve signal. These added features enable a user to practice generating control signals even when NeuroSwitch is not connected to other devices or technology. In addition, the NeuroSwitch System comes with an included RS232-Miniplug cable - custom built by ExchTech Technologies. The Hogendorn cable contains a Light Emitting Diode (LED) that lights up in response to the user's nerve signals. At the other end is the universal miniplug designed to interface with most existing Assistive Technology software and hardware. At their 2004 annual road show in Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch, the Assistive Technology Alliance of New Zealand demonstrated a range of AT, available in the USA, UK, Europe, Asia and Oceania, the following of which are compatible with NeuroSwitch AT. Judy Waterhouse, Kimi Ora School's e-Fellow in Assistive Technology opens new horizons with NeuroSwitch AT. This listing was compiled and provided by Judy, who was a fellow at the CSUN Conference on Disabilities and e-school in the USA in 2005, expanding her professional skills and knowledge in Assistive Technology. Dave Speden, an Occupational Therapist at Kimi Ora, is pushing the boundaries of Assistive Technology using NeuroSwitch AT. His highly creative ways of using NeuroSwitch AT in unorthodox applications - from food blenders to running a disco - are opening new horizons for clients to take active roles in school, work and play.
