HOW NEUROSWITCH WORKS
NeuroSwitch turns electromyograph (EMG) signals initiated by nerve signals into commands on a personal computer.   nerve signals activate a muscle generating faint electromyograph signals - measured in microvolts (μV) which can be captured on the surface of the skin using adhesive sensors exactly like the ones used for heart monitors.

The software employs FDA-approved EMG electronics from Therapeutic Alliances Inc (TAI), namely the NeuroEDUCATOR 3 EMG Monitor.  See announcement of NeuroEDUCATOR upgrades.

It is a painless process, completely non-invasive. The tested sensors have been worn on highly sensitive skin continuously for more than five days with absolutely no discomfort or skin irritation. They are the same sensors used in clinical and hospital EMG and EKG monitors, and are non-latex and hypoallergenic. NeuroEDUCATOR EMG Monitor Upgrade Announcement

A new generation of dry sensors is presently proving to be highly reliable, re-usable and capable of being embedded in clothing and accessories.

Importantly, NeuroSwitch can interface with a host of existing Assistive Technology (AT) and communications devices, making them accessible for the first time by hundreds of thousands of people whose extensive disabilities presently inhibit their access to AT.

NeuroSwitch offers reliable control where hand, head, foot, pneumatic (sip-and-puff), eye-movement, proximity or voice switches cannot.
