2022 Speech Pathology Week: Good Communication, Better Communities

Join us in celebrating the speech pathology profession during Speech Pathology Week!

For the 2022-year, Speech Pathology Week is from 21-27 August. This is a week designated to celebrate and promote the field of speech pathology and all the hard work and efforts put forth by speech pathologists across Australia.

For Speech Pathology Week this year, several events will be held across Australia to raise awareness and provide an opportunity to express appreciation for the speech pathology profession. Spreading awareness for the prevalence of communication difficulties is important for ensuring that individuals with those difficulties are provided assistance with their speech and language.

SPEECH PATHOLOGY EXPLAINED

Speech pathology is a speech therapy that is practiced by professionals known as speech pathologists. Speech pathologists study, diagnose, and treat a range of communication difficulties, whether that be difficulties with speaking, listening, understanding language, reading, writing, and much more.

Speech pathologists work with individuals who have communication difficulties resulting from a variety of problems that affect their speech and language abilities, including developmental delays, stroke, brain injuries, learning disability, intellectual disability, cerebral palsy, and more.
