At AITA 2022, Control Bionics showed the new Cosmos Connect device connected to the NeuroNode Trilogy. The Cosmos Connect is a small, portable device that turns a single NeuroNode sensor into multiple outputs. The device allows up to 8 wired outputs and one Bluetooth output. Kristin Whitfield, MS, CCC-SLP, recorded a session on the Cosmos Connect and how it can be used to expand your universe.
For individuals with significant motor limitations, the universe can feel small. Independent access to gaming, robots, toys, and iPhones/iPads can expand options for fun! In this session, she demonstrated the new Cosmos Connect with a single switch as a means of playing multi-switch games, operating multi-function toys, controlling various actions on robots, and using iPhones/iPads without switching from device to device. She also discussed the added benefit of using these play and recreational activities to help individuals become more accurate and efficient users of computers and communication devices.
Watch this session to learn:
- Two benefits of using motivating activities to shape access for communication and computer use.
- Describe at least two components that allow thoughtful design and programming of a single switch input to control multiple actions.
- Identify at least three daily activities that can be accessed via the Cosmos Connect to support increased independence.
